Our video conference is conducted using Zoom, the world's most trusted video conferencing platform. Video sessions can be accessed via desktop computer or mobile device (iOS or Android).

Using Teleperinatal is simple: choose your visit type (regular consultation or ultrasound review), choose a time slot (meet as soon as tomorrow; nights and weekends okay), and fill out our patient intake questionnaire (answer questions now to make the most of your time with the physician during your session).

Once it's time for your appointment, simply follow the instructions in your email to access the video session, and you'll be live with your Teleperinatal physician. Use this time to get your peace of mind.

Your visit will include face-to-face consultation with a board-certified maternal-fetal medicine specialist to discuss your concerns. As part of reviewing your history, our specialist may identify other areas of concern, which they will also address with you. If you’d like us to review an ultrasound exam or medical records prior to your visit, you’ll have an opportunity to upload those through our HIPAA-compliant portal ahead of time.

We don't do any procedures like ultrasounds through our telemedicine platform, but we can review ultrasound results you upload and share with the Teleperinatal physician. You can learn more about our ultrasound review service here.

No referrals are necessary to see a Teleperinatal physician.

Often times, insurance providers will make it difficult to see a Maternal-Fetal Medicine physician without an OB referral. And even with a referral, it can take weeks to actually see the specialist. Teleperinatal works directly with you, allowing you to see a physician as early as tomorrow.

All of our technology platform partners – from scheduling to payments to video conferencing – are HIPAA-compliant, ensuring that all of your data related to your Teleperinatal experience is safe and private.

Who better to answer your questions about a normal pregnancy, than one who specializes in abnormal? In many instances, women feel that their concerns are ignored or not taken seriously by their providers, and need extra reassurance that everything is okay, we are here for that. In other instances, what someone may have perceived as “perfectly normal” may still include risk factors that we can identify and address.

OBGYN, and other pregnancy providers (nurse midwives, family practitioners) have general training to care for pregnancies including many common high-risk conditions including preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, and preterm birth. MFMs are OBs, but they also extend their training by 3 to 4 years to focus on high-risk pregnancies, fetal ultrasounds, genetics, and pregnancy research evaluation.

In the case of Teleperinatal, our MFM specialists also proceed with becoming double-board-certified in OBGYN and MFM by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Many providers will tout themselves as “high-risk” experts. While they may have great training and experience, we fundamentally believe that fellowship-training (advanced training) is invaluable, and reserve that label for Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialist. This is in many ways similar to many OB providers touting themselves as “infertility” experts as they are familiar with basic evaluation and treatment procedures for this condition. When facing IVF or other fertility treatments, a woman must ask herself, “who will give me the best chance at success?” We believe training and experience matters.

Many people use an MFM for various reasons. Often, pregnancy providers use us to evaluate ultrasounds as that is our expertise. They also use us to co-manage high-risk conditions such as lupus, hypertension, diabetes, colitis, seizures, clotting disorders, so that they can focus on the prenatal care itself. Another subset of patients, including many celebrities use us to discuss their normal pregnancies, as who better to ask about “normal” than someone who knows “abnormal.” We also tend to be the doctors to the doctors. Many physicians will and have seen us for their pregnancies because we are considered the “pregnancy experts.”

We intentionally do not deal with insurance, so that the provider caring for you is focused solely on you and their craft, and not forms, approvals, and anything that would distract them from you. Working directly with patients and without insurance companies allows us to treat you as soon as possible.
